A moment of madness resulted in the Toffees star being sent off in Monday night's clash.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was sent off for violent conduct following an incident involving Harry Kane in Monday's Premier League clash between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. The Malian midfielder lost his temper and cost his team after pushing the Spurs captain in the face with what was a keenly contested affair at that point.

With the game locked in stalemates, Kane had fouled Demarai Gray in the build-up to the scuffle before tangling with Doucoure despite match referee David Coote blowing the whistle for the earlier infringement. The English striker could be seen pulling Doucoure's shirt as the pair tussled off the ball, before the Everton midfielder threw an arm which caught him in the face.

The verdict was a straight red card for the 30-year-old Malian who is now set to miss Everton's upcoming games against Manchester United, Fulham and Crystal Palace. Watch:

Meanwhile, Everton held their ground to share spoils with Spurs despite going behind at after Doucoure's dismissal. Harry Kane converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute after Michael Keane had fouled Cristian Romero in the penalty area. However, the former Manchester United academy product made amends with a stunning strike from about 30 yards to pull his side right back into the game. Earlier, Lucas Moura had been sent off for a dangerous foul on the English defender.

With the clash ending in a 1-1 draw, Tottenham Hotspur were able to climb into fourth position momentarily, demoting Manchester United to fifth in the process. The Red Devils still have two games in hand and could be reinstated in no time should the results go in their favour. On the contrary, Everton have been able to climb out of the relegation zone to occupy 15th position. However, just one point separates the Toffees' and 17th-placed Leeds United who have a game in hand.
