It seems that the Saudi Pro League will not hesitate one bit in their effort to lure talent from PSG to their roster as soon as possible, and the club's latest -and boldest- move could result in a record-breaking deal for the player they want to sign.
Initial reports from France indicated that Al Hilal were keen on signing Lionel Messi on a massive deal that would guarantee a big wage for the Argentine ace. Nevertheless, the club and the footballer are yet to reach an agreement, which has prompted the Arabian side to search for other options.
Apparently, their search did not take long, as defender Sergio Ramos will become their next transfer target, with the club from the Pro League ready to offer the Spaniard a whopping $30M deal per season. Ramos is out of a contract with PSG this summer, and while the club's hierarchy is interested in keeping him around, the former Spanish international's demands may be far away from what the club can give him.
The report by L'Equipe fueling this information adds that Al Hilal's execs have given their negotiatiors green light to offer Ramos up to $50M if he were to turn down their first offer.
Sources close to the Arab execs involved in the negotiation suggest that the move has been fueled by the Saudi Arabjan Football Federation, which will try to win the bid to host the 2030 World Cup, and what better way to do so than by having some stellar footballers, like Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo, promoting their bid.
It has been said that Messi's decision to snub an initial offer have to do with his intention to keep playing in Europe and in top shape for the 2026 World Cup. On the other hand, Ramos has retired from the Spanish national team after a harsh discussion with coach Luis de la Fuente, which could pave the way for a potential move.
