The Argentina superstar is set to be immortalised after leading his country to glory in Qatar.

Lionel Messi's World Cup heroics have been recognized by Argentina as they have renamed their national team training facility in honour of their captain. The Casa de Ezeiza, located in Buenos Aires, will now be known as Lionel Andres Messi.

Chiqui Tapia, the president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), announced the news on Saturday via Twitter, calling it a "historic day" for the country. He expressed his gratitude to everyone associated with the AFA and said the renaming was in tribute to the former Barcelona superstar.

Messi, who recently scored his 800th career goal, subsequently thanked the AFA for the recognition on Instagram, describing it as "one of the nicest" he has received. The 35-year-old football superstar led Argentina to their third World Cup title in Qatar last year, and the first since 1986, following in the footsteps of his legendary predecessor, Diego Maradona.

"I want to thank all the managers, players and employees of the Argentina Football Federation for having been with us."

"This recognition is one of the nicest I've ever received," Messi posted on Instagram.

"A great honour, thank you very much!!!"

The next goal by Messi on the international stage will mark his 100th for Argentina, a remarkable achievement that cements his status as one of the greatest footballers of all time. The iconic No.10 ongoing success continues to inspire fans worldwide and proves his unwavering commitment to his craft.
