The Egyptian superstar missed from the spot in horrible fashion as the Merseyside giants suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium.

For the second week in a row, Mohamed Salah set a personal milestone in the Premier League. However, unlike in the Manchester United victory, this latest feat was nothing to be proud of.

The Egyptian superstar started for Liverpool in their early kick-off against Bournemouth after becoming the club's all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League courtesy of his brace against the Red Devils.

Unfortunately, despite tearing Ten Hag's men to pieces, the Merseyside giants quickly found themselves in trouble against the Cherries. In the 28th minute, the visitors went a goal down after conceding against Philip Billing.

Regardless, Liverpool went hunting for an equalizer and in the 70th minute, Salah was presented with a golden opportunity to draw his side level after they were awarded a penalty. Thanks to some help from VAR, the Reds were given a spot kick for a handball offense from a Bournemouth defender.

Unfortunately, Salah chose the worst moment to miss from the spot as the world-class winger sent his attempt wide, leaving everyone shocked. In fact, while he has missed penalties in the Premier League before, those were all down to saves from the keeper, making this the first time he has failed to even hit the target in England. Unfortunately for the former Chelsea winger, Klopp's men were unable to score after that, meaning Salah's penalty miss came at a huge cost. Liverpool entered this tie with a mere three-point disadvantage over fourth-placed Tottenham, meaning they could have temporarily moved ahead of Spurs had they won at the Vitality Stadium.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will now face Nottingham Forest with the knowledge that they can go six points clear of Liverpool if they beat the newly-promoted side.
