The Stamford Bridge boss has received criticism online due to the club's poor form but some of the vile abuse has gone way over the line.

Graham Potter hasn't covered himself in glory at Chelsea so far but while the English tactician has received merited criticism due to the club's form, some of the abuse has gone way over the line.

Speaking ahead of the Blues' highly-anticipated Premier League showdown with Tottenham this weekend, the former Brighton boss revealed that he has been subjected to death threats targeted at both him and his kids.

The London giants are currently 10th in the table and sit a whopping 11 points outside of the fourth spot, which is occupied by none other than Spurs. Furthermore, with the club winning only three out of their last 15 Premier League games despite their massive spending spree both in the summer and in January, frustration among the Stamford Bridge fan base was inevitable.

However, Potter has revealed that certain vile human beings have taken things to an unacceptable level. It should be noted that this wasn't the only issue the 47-year-old tackled ahead of Sunday's London Derby as Potter also went to war with the claim that he does not care about Chelsea.

Graham has received criticism for his calm demeanor on the touchline even in the face of crisis, with some going as far as arguing the Englishman is too nice for Stamford Bridge. However, the talented tactician looks to put this notion to bed once and for all.

"I've had some not particularly nice emails come through that want me to die and want my kids to die," the head coach said, as per the Sun

"That's obviously not pleasant to receive. If you go to work and somebody is swearing abuse at you it's not going to be pleasant, if you're referred to as the worst person in the history of the club.

"You can say, 'Oh, I don't care' but you know I'm lying because everyone does care what people think because we are hardwired to be socially connected.

"And I want to succeed here so it's nonsense this notion that I don't care.

"And I would ask you to ask my family how life has been for me and for them. It has not been pleasant at all.

"I understand that supporters go home and they are really annoyed because their team is not winning.

"But I assure you my life for the past three or four months has been fairly average apart from the fact that I am really grateful for this experience and can say what a great challenge this is."

Potter later joked about the abuse he receives online and, fortunately, admitted that he is still in a healthy mental state despite the disgusting trolls online.

"You know there's a problem when the email is sent from [email protected]."

Chelsea travel to Tottenham on Sunday as they go in search of their first win in just over a month. The London giants are reeling from their recent defeat at home to bottom-of-the-table Southampton, with the two-time UEFA Champions League winners losing 1-0 to the Saints.

Additionally, in Europe, Thiago Silva and Co. are 1-0 down against Dortmund in the round of 16 but have a return leg at Stamford Bridge to salvage their continental campaign. However, Potter's men must first beat the aforementioned North London giants in order to gain momentum and confidence.
