The Barcelona boss has left Manchester United supporters fuming after seemingly forgetting the name of Bruno Fernandes.

Xavi Hernandez has ruffled some feathers among Manchester United fanbase ahead of Thursday night's epic Europe League clash at Old Trafford. The Barcelona boss got on the bad side of the Premier League fans' supporters after referring to Bruno Fernandes as 'the Portuguese guy' during his pre-match press conference.

Last Thursday, Barcelona and United drew 2-2 in the first leg of the match at the Nou Camp in front of a raucous crowd. Five minutes into the second half, former Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso headed in a corner from Raphinha to give the La Liga giants the lead. However, the in-form Rashford subsequently restored parity before Jules Kounde's own goal gave the Red Devils a slim advantage. Raphinha, a former Leeds winger, scored a goal late to give both teams a chance to win at Old Trafford.

A little over 24 hours to kick-off at Old Trafford, manager of Barcelona got himself into the bad books of United fans with his remarks about Bruno Fernandes. When asked about what Erk ten Hag has achieved in his short spell at the club, the former Blaugrana skipper ended up referring to Bruno as 'the Portuguese guy' in an attempt to laud him for his recent contribution to the success the Premier League club is enjoying.

The 43-year-old said: 'He is very good, I like him a lot [referring to Ten Hag]'. 'He has built a team and is getting the best out of all his players.'

'That speaks well of him. Tactically he is very good and he handles the dressing room very well.

'He is getting all the talent out of his players. You see [Jadon] Sancho, [Marcus] Rashford, the Portuguese guy [Bruno Fernandes]. And look how Fred is playing.'

Man United fans on Twitter were quick to react to Xavi's blooper, with many asking Bruno Fernandes to put in a shift that will make the Barcelona boss remember his name forever. The 28-year-old playmaker has been a mainstay in the Red Devils' team under Ten Hag, scoring seven goals and assisting 10 in 22 games since the start of November.
