The French striker has returned from a long-term injury layoff just in time, and should he feature on Wednesday, could set a personal record in the process.

The 2022/23 UEFA Champions League is back in full swing as the round of 16 gets underway, and Wednesday will feature Manchester City taking on RB Leipzig. Last year saw these two sides score a whopping 12 goals between them during the group stages, with the first match finished as a resounding 6-3 win for Pep Guardiola's side, while the German outfit stunned many observers by picking up a 2-1 win in the second tie.

Despite their awful form as of late in the knockout rounds, with three defeats and no goals scored in their past three appearances, Marco Rose's side will still have high hopes of pulling off a big upset on Wednesday evening. Those hopes have been boosted by the return of key striker Christopher Nkunku to action after the French international spent months out due to a knee injury.

Nkunku, who will join Chelsea this summer as the Blues seek some much needed improvements in attack, has been an integral part of RB Leipzig's set up over the past few seasons. Last year saw him score a hat-trick for die Roten Bullen during their 6-3 defeat to Manchester City, and in doing so, became the first Leipzig player to achieve that feat.

Should he play on Wednesday, and score, Nkunku will achieve another huge personal milestone by becoming the first Leipzig player to score in three consecutive appearances in the Champions League.
