Judging by these words, it is safe to say that the relationship between the German coach and footballer did not end on the best terms.

It is not an easy time to play for Chelsea...and apparently it has been like that for a while, according to recent recounts by former players.

In a fiery interview with The Sun, former Chelsea player Timo Werner did not hold back when speaking about the circumstances that led to his exit, and he did not hesitate to blame Thomas Tuchel for most of his issues on and off the pitch.

"The manager who brought me in, Lampard, was sacked a few months later which was not the best for a player who joined the club after talking to this manager,"Werner stated.

Then, he referred to his good form when he began playing for the Blues and how, out of the blue, Tuchel decided to give the starting spot to another footballer.

"When you come from the kind of success I had in Germany or with Chelsea - playing nearly every game in the first season, winning the Champions League in 2021, scoring in the semi-final against Real Madrid, making a lot of goals. Then all this gets a little bit forgotten by the manager, it was not really fair," Werner added.

The striker shared how he preferred to return where he felt more comfortable in order to find his true north and start scoring one more time following the harsh criticism against him from Chelsea fans.

"That was also a reason I had to move back to Leipzig, to get the enjoyment again. I didn't feel that any more but you need it to be successful," the German player stated.

Werner played 89 games for Chelsea across all comps, scoring 12 goals. He is set to return to England in the UEFA Champions League when RB Leipzig make the trip to face Manchester City.
