Napoli name price for Man Utd target Osimhen

Napoli name staggering asking price for Victor Osimhen as Man Utd, Chelsea eye move for Serie A star

February 7, 2023 By Ali M.
With 16 goals in 17 Serie A games, the Nigerian star has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in world football.

Victor Osimhen has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in world football. As a result, the Nigerian sensation is garnering interest from the Premier League, namely two of the competition's richest clubs: Manchester United and Chelsea.

The 24-year-old is averaging nearly a goal per game in Serie A this season, with the former Lille ace netting 16 times in 17 outings. His heroics in front of goal have been a huge factor in Napoli's astonishing title challenge this season, with the Italian side sitting 13 points clear at the top.

However, how long will the Super Eagles star remain at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium? The Red Devils look to end that relationship come this summer.

According to Il Mattino, a Naples-based newspaper, Ten Hag's side are looking to move into pole position ahead of a summer transfer move for Osimhen. This is a move that makes tremendous sense as the English giants are prioritizing a marquee no.9 when the window reopens.

In fact, the aforementioned report claims that the Red Devils tried to make contact with Gli Azzurri during the winter window but given that Spalletti's side are in the midst of a Scudetto chase, Napoli were never going to enter dialogue until after 2022/23.

However, it isn't all great news for the 20-time English champions. The biggest issue is interest from Chelsea, another Premier League club in need of a striker, with Todd Boehly reportedly keen on sanctioning another mega-money signing.

Additionally, with two rich Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Osimhen, Napoli will undoubtedly sell to the highest bigger. The Serie A leaders reportedly want a whopping €150M ($160M).

Will Manchester United be willing to pay that much for the Nigerian superstar? UEFA Champions League qualification will be crucial but with the Glazers keen on selling the club after racking up tremendous debt, it remains unclear whether the Red Devils can afford that.
