The Red Devils icon made sure to crack a joke with the Dutch manager following the club's 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the final.

While Manchester United had all but confirmed their spot in the Carabao Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg of their semifinal fixture a week ago, the Red Devils wrapped up their ticket to Wembley on Wednesday.

The Premier League giants hosted the newly-promoted side in the second leg, and despite a frustrating first-half performance, Ten Hag's men came out swinging after the break to win 2-0 — 5-0 on aggregate.

Goals from Anthony Martial and Fred secured the victory as the 20-time English champions reached the final of a tournament for the first time since that UEFA Europa League defeat to Villarreal under Solskjaer's reign. The club will now look to end their six-year trophy drought, having last won silverware back in 2017 when Jose Mourinho led the club to the UEFA Europa League crown.

However, despite this impressive achievement from Ten Hag in his debut season at Old Trafford, one of the most memorable moments relating to Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest did not take place during the 90 minutes.

After the final whistle, the Dutch tactician went on air with Sky Sports to discuss the result and performance, with club icon Roy Keane going viral after joking with the 53-year-old boss. The former Red Devils captain humorously requested two free tickets to the final at Wembley.

Ten Hag was left with a huge smile after this lovely exchange, replying with: "I can, I think so. No problem, Roy." Check out this hilarious moment in the clip below.

Guiding Manchester United to a final in your very-first season in charge is a wonderful feat but even that might not stack up to Wednesday's other remarkable achievement: getting the stern and phlegmatic Roy Keane to break character and crack a joke!

Waiting for the Red Devils in the final is Newcastle, another club flying high this season. The Magpies overcame Southampton and will now look to win a first major honor since 1969, which should make for a thrilling battle with the Red Devils.
