The English side want to take advantage of the footballer's refusal to extend his deal with the rossoneri and are willing to offer something in exchange for his services.

One of Portugal's best players in their FIFA World Cup was, without a doubt, Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger had some stellar moments in the competition fo A Seleçao, and his form did not go unnoticed for some of the top teams in Europe.

His name was included in a transfer wishlist for Chelsea as soon as Portugal's run in the tournament ended, but it seems that another Premier League club might be close to his signing.

Reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Rafael Leao has been named as a priority for Manchester City. The English side is aware that such a big move may need a bit more time to be planned, which is why the team's hierarchy is considering Leao as one of their summer transfers.

To make things a bit easier for them, the club would be willing to include a player in this move. The footballer that would join Milan in return for Leao is Joao Cancelo, who has fallen down the pecking order wth Pep Guardiola. The rossoneri have set an asking price of €100M for the player, and including Cancelo in a cash-plus-player swap seems like the way to go for a player that will see the end of his deal with the Serie A side in 2024.

Leao has played for Milan since the 2019-20 season, scoring 36 goals in 141 apps for the rossoneri. The Portuguese ace was key for their successful run in the domestic tournament that ended with them lifting their 16th Serie A title, and even though his departure would not be appreciated by their fans, cashing in on a player that could leave them in 2024 on a free move could be a good option for the team coached by Stefano Pioli.
