It's no secret that Chelsea are on the hunt for a new midfielder. Since the arrival of Todd Boehly, the club have invested heavily in the defense and attack but Potter is keen on at least one midfield reinforcement before the January window ends.
After a failed attempt to land Benfica ace Enzo Fernandez, the London giants' focus has now shifted to Moises Caicedo, the highly-rated Brighton sensation who continues to rack up rave reviews even under Roberto de Zerbi.
Not only is the Ecuadorian an accomplished player on the ball, but the South American is also one of the best ball winners in the Premier League and has shown the ability to play as both a no.8 and a no.6. However, negotiating with the Seagulls is no easy feat.
An offer of £55M ($67.8M) has already been lodged by Boehly and Co. but Brighton are unwilling to sell their key player in the middle of the season unless a spectacular offer is made.
And to make things worse, Caicedo himself has now gone on the record to speak about his future, reiterating his focus and commitment to his current employers in their bid to qualify for Europe next season.
"I am focussed on Brighton," the 21-year-old told Brighton's official website. "I am here, I'm playing every day. Things from outside don't trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because I'm focused only on here.
"I handle [the speculation] well. You hear rumors here and there, but I only try to be focused on the club where I am now, the club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week."
Additionally, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Moises has now changed agents and he is being tracked by two other Premier League giants. They are Liverpool and Arsenal, with both sides being on the hunt for midfielders.

According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners have shortlisted Caicedo as a backup option to Declan Rice, who is target no.1 for Arteta and Co. this summer. This means that while several clubs would prefer to recruit the Ecuadorian this month, his future is likely to be resolved after the current season ends.
