Sunday's loss against Barcelona has set the alarms on at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, but even if Real Madrid seem to be going through a rough patch, coach Carlo Ancelotti is still confident about his team's chances of success this season.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of Los Blancos' clash against Villarreal, Ancelotti ruled out the idea of his team being too old, and urged fans to believe in their efforts of creating a new era for Real Madrid in years to come.
"This is a young team. Camavinga, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Valverde, Militao, Tchouamení, and those who come here in the future will mark the beginning of an era in this club. The end of the road for some players that were decisive for this team is coming, but this is a dawn of a new age. We are living the transition of a fantastic era. When the day comes for Karim (Benzema) or Luka (Modric) to stop playing, those players I mentioned will step up. It's not the end, it's the start of something new," Ancelotti said.
The Italian boss referred to the circumstances that have seen his team conceding too much during the start of the year, which has led him to identify the cause for those mishaps.
"Honestly, we have been too optimistic in these games. We have conceded six times, and if we had been more pessimistic, we could have prevented those goals. We gave away five very avoidable goals," Ancelotti revealed.
Before the presser came to an end, Ancelotti tried to ease fans from their current concerns by asking them to trust this team as they have done before.
"January is always complicated. We have to defend our ground in these games. We think that everyone is leaving us for dead, but we are thinking about how we will win. The season is too long and all we have to do is hold on. We will play against good, dynamic teams, but we will prevail. Hopefully tomorrow we will start to bounce back. We will fight until the end," Ancelotti concluded.
