The Brazilian ace was not as accurate as expected in Sunday's match, which earned him a low performance rate by French media outlets.

PSG's loss to Rennes did not go down well among Ligue 1 experts in France, and their primary target to criticize was none other than Neymar, who added a few unflattering names to the large list of digs aimed at him by French media reporters.

One of the most scathing attacks against the Brazilian came from French media outlet RMC Sport via Daniel Riolo. The journalist named Neymar as "the worst failure in the world of football," mainly because of the amount of money spent on his transfer.

"Can we realize now that Neymar is the biggest failure in the history of football? I can't think of a bigger flop in history, especially for his cost. It's awful! He only had two great games in the 2020 UEFA CL Round of 16, and after that, he has never been in top form. His presence is not life saving for the team," Riolo stated.

Meanwhile, the respected newspaper L'Equipe added that Neymar's performances had been lackluster since his return from the World Cup, while also showing their concern for the UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern next month.

"Just as he did against Angers last week, the Brazilian came down too much to look for the ball and tried to make a difference all by himself. The results were disappointing, as he lost too many balls in complicated places and he failed to create too much problems for Rennes' defense. His performance was poor and worrying with one month left to face Bayern," the newspaper said.

Neymar started the season on a high for PSG, but his injury during the FIFA World Cup was too hard to overcome for the footballer, who is seemingly finding his feet one more time. Nevertheless, patience is running out among those covering French football, and the Brazilian footballer needs to step things up before it gets worse.
