Manchester United may not be about to sign the kind of striker their fans wanted, but they will be able to add the one they need right now.
According to reports by Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are hours away from announcing the deal that will see Dutch striker Wout Weghorst as their new player. Weghorst will sign a loan deal until the end of the season, with the possibility of extending that contract for further campaigns.
Weghorst made headlines all over the world back in the FIFA World Cup for the best and the worst possible reasons. The positive side saw him scoring a brace against Argentina in the Quarterfinal tie between the Netherlands and La Albiceleste, but the worst side came when the game ended and he became a trending topic for being insulted by Lionel Messi with his now famous "Que mirás, bobo?" taunt.
When the deal is confirmed, Weghorst will play for his second Premier League side, following his spell at Burnley, who are still his parent club. Weghorst had been loaned to Besiktas during the start of the season, but that contract has been brought to an end after Manchester United reportedly agreed to pay a bit over $3M to the Turkish side to cancel the loan deal.

Weghorst will make it to Old Trafford after scoring eleven goals this season for club and country. Eight of those came in the Turkish Super Lig, two more in the FIFA World Cup, and one more in the UEFA Nations League. So, as you can see, he may not be the kind of striker Manchester United fans wanted, but he is the one they can afford right now.
