The Argentine appears to have sent a message to the Eagles fans wondering whether he will be leaving for Chelsea this month.

Enzo Fernandez has been dominating the transfer rumors since the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but the issue of the Argentine's future looks to be a closed case in the meanwhile.

The 21-year-old lit up the stage in Qatar and was named the Young Player of the Tournament after helping Messi and Co. lift the title. As a result, he began garnering attention from some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

However, it was the aforementioned London giants that made concrete attempts to sign the former River Plate sensation this month. Initially, it was reported that Todd Boehly and Co. were planning on paying above the player's release clause, valued at €120M ($129M), in order to get ahead of the competition.

In reality, though, Chelsea's offer was below the release clause, which angered Benfica, leading to a collapse in negotiations. Enzo was even dropped for the club's 1-0 victory over Portimonense as an agreement was thought to be close but the Argentine has since returned to the first-team setup and even started in the 2-0 victory over Varzim on Tuesday.

Not only that, but the FIFA World Cup winner got himself on the scoresheet, netting the Eagles' second goal of the game in the 78th minute.

And with his goal celebration, Fernandez all but confirmed his plan for the January transfer window, hinting that he intends on staying at the Estadio da Luz. The maestro could be seen patting Benfica's iconic badge before pointing to the ground in an "I'm here" gesture. Check it out in the clip below.

Even the manager echoed a similar sentiment, with the Eagles boss Roger Schmidt saying this after the game: "The story is closed, he is our player."

However, one thing should be noted: while Enzo might have decided against a January exit in order to complete the season and help the Lisbon powerhouse lift the Primeira Liga crown, a move could still be imminent.

The summer transfer window is a few months away, meaning not only Chelsea, but Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid could intensify their interest in the South American talent.
