The Argentine shot-stopper was once again key to his team's success, but he failed to mind his manners before La Albiceleste lifted the title.

He may have been a crucial presence for La Albiceleste during the entire tournament, but Emiliano Martínez still has a lot to learn about sportsmanship and how to become a better man after winning a match.

The Argentine footballer had one hell of a World Cup, extending his legacy with the South Americans by being key in the team's two penalty shootout wins. Nevertheless, his gestures against rivals once games have ended now cast a shadow of disapproval.

During the awards ceremony after the competition ended, Martínez stepped up to receive the Golden Glove ast the best goalkeeper. Moments after receiving the trophy, Martínez walked down the stage and decided to celebrate with a distasteful gesture, which saw him taking the trophy to his genitals.

While some may say this was in the heat of the moment, Martínez was also named as quite a controversial figure during and after the game against the Netherlands, where Dutch players accused him of insulting them while the clash was going on. To put the icing on that cake, Martínez was caught on camera telling Louis Van Gaal he had "f***ed them twice" in reference to his two penalty saves.
