It was written on the stars that Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé were going to give fans a great FIFA World Cup final, and none of them disappointed with their performance this evening.
The Argentine ace was key to Argentina's run in the competition, being the leader everyone wanted him to be for La Albiceleste, scoring seven goals and stepping up for the South Americans when they needed it the most.
Meanwhile, Mbappé carried France's weight for almost the entire tournament, and his presence in the final was capped with an impressive hat-trick during the title clash, which had him level Geoff Hurst as the only men in history to score three goals in a single FIFA World Cup final.
The goals scored by these footballers saw them share a World Cup record which will be hard to level...or surpass.
10 - Lionel Messi (7 goals and 3 assists) and Kylian Mbappe (8 and 2) are the first players to be involved in 10 goals in a World Cup edition since Diego Armando Maradona in 1986 (5 and 5). Stars. pic.twitter.com/XNbyqfCDE4
