Benzema rules out return for FIFA World Cup final

Benzema drops huge hint amid rumors of a return to the French squad for the FIFA World Cup final

December 17, 2022 By Ali M.
The Real Madrid star has been linked with a bombshell return for the FIFA World Cup final despite having not played a single minute in Qatar.

Karim Benzema has dropped a huge hint regarding a potential return to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

The Real Madrid star has been dominating the headlines as recent rumors suggest the Ballon d'Or winner could make an unexpected appearance in Sunday's highly-anticipated finale versus Argentina.

The 34-year-old was set to lead the line for the defending champions but picked up an unfortunate thigh injury just as the tournament was about the start. However, while the striker was sent home, he was never officially removed from Les Bleus' Qatar 2022 squad.

As a result, this gave rise to speculation of potential return. The attacker has regained fitness and is back training, making him available for the showdown with Messi and Co. if needed. Additionally, Real Madrid are said to have given him their blessing to head over to the Middle East to play in this weekend's FIFA World Cup final.

But will Benzema return to the squad and feature against La Albiceleste? Didier Deschamps refused to answer this question when asked following the semifinal victory over Morocco. Meanwhile, the player has taken to Instagram to drop a cryptic message.

Karim posted a picture of himself with an unhappy facial expression with the caption "I'm not interested", hinting that he does not intend on joining up with Les Bleus. The reason for his unwillingness to return is his fractured relationship with Deschamps.

According to Spanish publication Libertad Digital, the manager forced Benzema to leave the camp despite needing only three days to recover. The striker has been invited by French president Emmanuel Macron, as well as the nation's other injured stars, but the Liga sensation looks destined to turn down that offer.
