The former coach for the Three Lions has been impressed by the Argentine ace...but not for the entirety of the competition.

Fans across the globe have been dazzled by Lionel Messi's form during the FIFA World Cup, and most experts have agreed that the player has been quite impressive during the competition, but there are some who remain unconvinced of the Argentine's performances, as not all of them have been as consistent as you might expect.

One of those who agree with the latter notion is none other than Fabio Capello. The former England boss had to be included among those who did not hold back on the praises after the semi-final match against Croatia, but the rest of the matches were not as impressive as you might think for the Italian tactician.

"I was surprised by his last game, not by the ones before. During the other games he was just walking on the pitch, but even so, a player such as him has an incredible set of skills," Capello said.

The former Real Madrid boss also added that Messi and Mbappé will be key to see the winner of this title, as both of them were decisive in the semis for their teams.

"Both teams can win it, I don't know which way it will go. Right now, Messi is back to being Messi, he just had a wonderful game. Then, you look at Mbappé, who got close to the box twice, he took two shots, and his teammates scored by taking advantage of those loose balls. So, both players could be key," Capello added.
