The Man City starlet bagged a goal of the competition contender.

Julian Alvarez extraordinarily fired Argentina into a position of promise with his goal contribution in Tuesday's clash with Croatia. The 22-year-old forward scored a remarkable solo goal to give the Albiceleste a a two-goal lead in the first half of their semi-final encounter.

Croatia had a strong start and had the majority of the possession, but were caught out by Argentina and were left with all to do in the second half following their capitulation. It all began in the 32nd minute when Alvarez was brought down in the penalty box by Livakovic after going one-on-one with the Croatian shot-stopper.

Lionel Messi subsequently stepped up to score his fifth goal of the tournament, breaking Gabriel Batistuta's record to outrightly become Argentina all-time top goalscorer at the World Cup. Moments after, Alvarez made another impact in the game, this time going all the way to get on the score sheet.

After successfully dealing with a Croatia corner, Argentina were set on course to getting the second with an electrifying counter attack. Messi poked the ball through to Alvarez and the Manchester City forward drove straight at the defence, bundling his way through one challenge after the other, before lifting it into the back of the net.
