Four players have been identified as the instigatiors of intense protests against referee Daniel Siebert over his decisions during the clash.

The end of the road in Qatar 2022 for Uruguay was not as fans or the players themselves expected, but FIFA was not so comprehensive and has decided to look deeper into the actions taken by some of La Celeste's footballers when the match ended.

After the match between Uruguay and Ghana concluded, some members of the South American squad did not take properly some of the decisions made by referee Daniel Siebert, and while they tried to make their voices heard, the ref turned a deaf ear, sparking the anger of at least four footballers, who have been named by FIFA in a recently launched investigation that could carry serious consequences for all those involved.

The document issued by FIFA states that football's governing body could take disciplinary action against Fernando Muslera, Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani and José María Giménez for their overly passionate complaints against the referee, which ended with Giménez hitting the back of the head of a FIFA officer and with Cavani throwing the VAR monitor to the floor.

Here is the incident involving Giménez, who could be banned for a whopping 15 games if the charges are confirmed by FIFA (Image might be geo-restricted).

Then, all the attention was directed to Edinson Cavani, who "protested" against VAR by throwing the monitor to the floor. Here's the moment where the striker lost the plot (Image might be geo-restricted).

The document states that Uruguayan players violated the organization's code of conduct, quoting Article 11 (offensive behavior and breah of Fair Play principles), Article 12(Conduct unbecoming by a player or officer) and 13 (Discriminatory behavior).

The Uruguayan Football Association might also be charged if their players are found guilty of these charges, although the punishment will be determined at a later date.
