The Swiss striker paved the way for the Nati's win over Serbia with the first goal of the evening, which represented a milestone for the Chicago Fire footballer.

Once again, Switzerland have made it to the next round of the FIFA World Cup, and they have Xherdan Shaqiri to thank after his performances in Qatar.

The player, who did not seem to get to the competition in the best possible form, managed to give Switzerland the lead against Serbia -just like four years ago- and helped them secure a spot in the next round. Moreover, that goal got the Swiss side closer to the top spot of the group, but they came shy by one more goal as things turned out.

Shaqiri had enough reasons to celebrate his goal against Serbia due to his family roots, but he also added a record to his list of reasons to be glad.
