A win at Turf Moor could see the Reds leapfrog Leicester ahead of the 38th and final matchday. Here's a preview of Wednesday's Burnley vs Liverpool showdown.

Preview – Burnley vs Liverpool

Liverpool are gearing up for the penultimate game of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, with the Merseyside giants set to take on Burnley in a crucial match in the top-four race. 3:15 p.m.ET is the kick-off time for this Turf Moor battle as Klopp's side look to take a huge step towards qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds head into this fixture on the back of their dramatic 2-1 triumph over West Brom. Salah and Co. appeared destined for a draw as the game was tied 1-1 in stoppage time. However, a sensational header from Alisson Becker saw Liverpool grab all three points with their final attempt, thus keeping their top-four hopes alive.

Last season's champions are fifth in the table and could miss out on UEFA Champions League football. However, the recent encounter between Chelsea and Leicester handed Klopp's men a huge boost. The Foxes were beaten 2-1 in their trip to Stamford Bridge, meaning Brendan Rodgers' fourth-placed side now are only three points ahead of Liverpool.

Victory over Burnley would see the Merseyside giants move ahead of the FA Cup winners thanks to their superior goal difference. The Reds looked headed for Europa League football not too long ago but the odds would shift drastically in their favor should they triumph on Wednesday.

This is because Chelsea and Leicester, who are four points and three points ahead of Klopp's men, will be facing Aston Villa and Tottenham respectively on the final day of the 2020/21 season. The Blues and the Foxes could easily lose their curtain closer, which would be hugely beneficial for Liverpool as they will be taking on 13th-placed Crystal Palace on Matchweek 38.

Liverpool, however, must not get ahead of themselves and must first secure a victory at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche's men are not in the best of forms, having lost 4-0 at home to Leeds over the weekend, stretching their winless run at their own ground to a record nine fixtures. Will Burnley end that run with a triumph over Liverpool? Tune in to find out.

Team news

Burnley: Nick Pope looks to sit this tie out due to a knee injury. Dale Stephens has also beenruled out, joining Robbie Brady, Kevin Long, and Phil Bardsley on the sidelines.

Liverpool: Diogo Jota has unfortunately returned to the sidelines, having picked up form after overcoming a long layoff. The Portuguese ace joins Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Ben Davies on the treatment table, leaving Klopp with yet another  selection headache. Keita and Milner are also doubts.
