Earlier today, the Netherlands and Ecuador played to a one-all draw, meaning that the Oranje aren't safely through to the round of 16 just yet.
For Ecuador, the result means that they still have a foot in the door to qualify for the knockout rounds, as they have four points, alongside the Netherlands, who will face Senegal in their group stage final match.
The match, as has many others at the 2022 FIFA World Cup also set a couple of records - both good as well as not so great, depending on what team you support.
Ecuador's Enner Valencia was the man to salvage a point for his side, and in doing so, has joined some very elite company, as this stat shows:
6 - Enner Valencia is the joint-top scorer in the #FIFAWorldCup since the 2014 tournament, even though he didn't feature in the 2018 edition. Indeed, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored as many group stage goals as Valencia (6) in this period. Inspired. pic.twitter.com/ePCgqSnjAT

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal's side will be bitterly disappointed with their showing, especially with their poor performance in attack in a match that many initially had expected them to win without much fuss:
2 - The Netherlands have attempted just two shots against Ecuador, the fewest recorded for a European nation in a single World Cup match since 1966. Dammed. pic.twitter.com/U6FetmhJAi

Still, the Netherlands have a chance to secure a round of 16 spot, as hosts Qatar have already been eliminated and will have nothing but pride to play for.
Ecuador, for their part, will be involved in a highly intriguing clash with Senegal, with the winner of that match set to head to the round of 16, while the loser will be on the early flight home.
