The Reds will look to exploit Southampton's woes as they aim to rebound after a shock loss at home that ended their long-standing unbeaten record.

Liverpool will hope to conclude their campaign off on a good note as many Reds players prepare to jet off to Qatar to take part in the World Cup in less than a fortnight. Jurgen Klopp's men had to really work to secure progression in the EFL Cup, with their match against Derby County going to spot kicks. However, Liverpool come into this match having enjoyed success both domestically and on the continent recently, picking up a well-deserved win over a Napoli side who have really surprised everyone with their performances this season, and then defeating Tottenham in a thrilling encounter last weekend, with Mohamed Salah scoring a brace.

Having seen their 29 match unbeaten home streak come to an end following a 2-1 defeat to Leeds, Klopp's side will certainly aim to take advantage of a Southampton team who have seemingly lost their way. Although the Saints also secured progression in the EFL Cup by edging out Sheffield Wednesday, they find themselves in 18th spot, with just two wins so far this season.

It is not surprising that Southampton are now under the guidance of a new manager, with Nathan Jones facing a tough test in his first Premier League match. Southampton have a poor track record when it comes to playing Liverpool, with six losses from their last eight trips to Anfield; in fact, they have not beaten the Reds since September 2013 and have failed to score in their last six visits to Liverpool's home ground.

Despite Liverpool having lost their last three games against teams in the drop zone, it is hard to see Southampton overcoming their bad track record at this ground, especially as the visitors not only have struggled for results but even to find the back of the net in their travels.

Finally, Salah could achieve a huge milestone should he score (or assist) during Liverpool's upcoming game. The Egyptian star has been directly involved in 99 goals for Liverpool at Anfield (70 goals, 29 assists) and could become the first player to hit at least 100 in home matches after Thierry Henry did so for Arsenal, with the French star being involved in 113 goals during that time frame.
