The Blues face the Cityzens amid a two-game losing streak while Arteta's Premier League leaders host the Seagulls, a team they have struggled against recently.

The Carabao Cup is back in action this midweek as round three of this tournament is set to dominate the headlines.

A total of 16 games will take place over the span of three days, from Tuesday to Thursday, as eighteen clubs battle it out for a spot in the fourth round. As usual, there will be a mixture of Premier League vs lower league matches. However, the four standout fixtures will see only English top-flight sides go head-to-head.

All eyes will be on the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United, who endured interesting–and varying–results over the weekend. Here is a quick look at the upcoming fixtures.

The key games to watch in round three of the Carabao Cup

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham

Spurs are back in action on Wednesday as Conte's men look to bounce back from their recent slump. Tottenham have failed to win six of their last 11 matches across all competitions, losing to Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle, and–most recently–Liverpool along the way. Kane and Co. lost 2-1 at home to Klopp's men but welcomed Dejan Kulusevski back from injury, with the Swedish attacker showing his quality off the bench immediately. It remains unclear whether the former Juventus ace will feature or be rested in their upcoming League Cup tie but Wednesday's showdown with Nottingham Forest presents the North London giants with an opportunity to rebuild their confidence. Cooper's men have the home advantage and could prove a tough test, however, irrespective of their relegation battle.

Arsenal vs Brighton

Premier League leaders Arsenal have no time to rest as the North London giants prepare for another tricky test straight after their trip to Stamford Bridge. Arteta's high-flying side will welcome Brighton, who are sixth in the table, to the Emirates Stadium. After beating Chelsea 1-0 over the weekend, the Gunners will now go in search of a victory over the Seagulls. Saka and Co. struggled against Brighton when they were under Graham Potter but it will be interesting to see how Arsenal fare against De Zerbi. The Italian oversaw crucial victories in his team's last two fixtures, thrashing Chelsea 4-1 and beating Wolves 3-2, but failed to win any of his first five games.

Manchester City vs Chelsea

Speaking of Chelsea, they are in for the toughest test as Potter's men take on Manchester City in this round. The London giants were abysmal in Sunday's 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal, which was their second loss in a row. A bounceback is needed, but unfortunately, one of Europe's best teams stand in their way. The Cityzens currently trail Arsenal in the Premier League table by two points but the consensus is Guardiola's men will win the title this season. With Erling Haaland up front and De Bruyne pulling the strings, Manchester City have been unstoppable. Pep will rotate heavily but expect the Spaniard to name a talented starting eleven nonetheless.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa

Just days after facing off at Villa Park, Manchester United will get a shot at revenge over Aston Villa. These two clubs met on Sunday in the Premier League in what was Unai Emery's debut game for the club, with the Spanish tactician pulling off a brilliant 3-1 win over the Red Devils. Ten Hag's side were without a few key players and the Dutch tactician had little insight as to how Emery will operate in his first game with his new club. However, after witnessing the former Villarreal and Sevilla boss firsthand, expect the English giants to deliver a better performance.
