Barcelona will look to put the Champions League disappointment behind when they travel to Mestalla on Saturday.

Barcelona will switch their attention to the La Liga campaign when they take on Valencia on Saturday. The Blaugrana were dealt a painful exit from this season's UEFA Champions League and will have to make do with the Europa League following Inter Milan's win over Viktoria Plzen and their defeat to Bayern Munich.

A different test exists coming into the clash with Valencia who will be looking to recover from their first defeat in six games. Los Che come into the encounter on the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss against Mallorca at home. Edinson Cavani gave the hosts the lead in the early minutes of the second half before Kang-in Lee's late strike secured the maximum points for the visitors after Vedat Muriqi had equalized earlier from the spot.

Needless to say, much optimism exists for Gennaro Gattuso's men who could make life difficult for Barcelona in their bid to go level on points Real Madrid momentarily. The Mestalla outfit have lost only once in their last six outings, winning two and drawing the remaining three games. Going up against Xavi's side, a lot more effort will be required to secure a more favorable result.

The Catalans come into the weekend's game on the back of the defeat to Bayern Munich in mid-week. Goals from Sadio Mane, Eric Choupo-Moting and Benjamin Pavard fired the Bavarians past the Blaugrana and sealed their fate after Inter Milan's defeat had condemned them to the Europa League playoffs.

The opportunity to win a quadruple still exists for Barca and ahead of Saturday's trip to the Mestalla, Xavi has iterated his desire to fire his side to success. In the league, their last outing resulted in an emphatic 4-0 win over Athletic Club. This came after they had defeated Villarreal 3-0 in the previou game.

Aside from the Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, Barcelona have only dropped points on one occasion - the 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano at the beginning of the season. Within they period, they have scored more goals than any side in the competition (24) and have conceded just four in the process.

Against Valencia, they will aim to leverage on their impressive head-to-head record to secure a favorable result. The Catalans are unbeaten in all their last four meetings with the Mestalla outfit. The last time the former got a win against them was in January 2020.
