Champions Inter Milan will look to spoil the party for the former champions when they travel to the Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

Preview

Inter Milan are poised to become party-poopers for rivals Juvetnus when the two teams go head-to-head in Saturday's Serie A encounter. The hopes of the Bianconeri securing a Championd League place for next season solely relies on the outcome of the weekened's clash as any result but a win would prove to be inadequate. Although Andrea Pirlo's men are set to take on Atalanta in the final of the Coppa Italia in the coming days, this is the ultimate litmus test for them as the consequences are innumerable.

The Bianconeri approach the weekend's encounter with Antonio Conte's charges on the back of an important 3-1 win over Sassuolonin midweek. Goals from Adrien Rabiot, Cristiano Ronaldo and Pauli Dybala secured safe passage for the Black and Whites and the latter two eventually reached a 100-goal landmark for the club with their respective contributions. While the form of the Aliianz Stadium side has been troubling in recent times, they have managed to accumulate very important points in meetings with Napoli, Genoa, Parma and Udinese.

The former league champions have won five of their last 10 league games and have drawn two and lost three of the remaining five. In the games won, they have scored at least two goals in the meetings. Overall, their home form in the league is only second to Inter's with the Old Lady winning 13 of the 18 games played at the venue, drawing two and losing only three. The opponent they come up against boasts the second-best away record in the league and could well deny them a safe passage into the business half of the table.

Despite securing the league title, Antonio Conte's men are not relenting and have picked up two wins since being given the guard of honor by Sampdoria last weekend. Against the latter, they secured an emphatic 5-1 win before beating AS Roma 3-1 in the mid-week's encounter.

Across the last 16 league outings, the Nerazzuri have not put a foot wrong, winning 14 games and drawing two within the period. In terms of goals scored in the competition, only Atalanta and Napoli boast a better record although the pair are edged culmulatively with Conte's men having a better defensive record. This season, they have already gotten the better of the Bianconeri in the league, winning 2-0 at the Guisepoe Meaza in the first round meeting. Since then, the pair have met twice in a two-legged Coppa Italia clash with Pirlo and his men emerging as eventual winners with a 3-1 aggregate score line.

Team news

Juventus should have a healthy squad to choose their starting eleven from as they currently have no player on the treatment table. On the contrary, Inter Milan will deal with the absence of injured pair Aleksandr Kolarov and Arturo Vidal.

Alexis Sanchez is also expected to shake off the injury he picked up against AS Roma which forced his early substitution.

Predicted staring XI

  • Juventus: Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Chiellini, Sandro; Cuadrado, Bentancur, Rabiot, Chiesa; Dybala, Ronaldo

  • Inter Milan: Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Hakimi, Barella, Brozovic, Sensi, Perisic; Lukaku, Martinez
