TUDN topped the soccer viewership charts in the USA with the broadcast of Pachuca taking down Chivas Guadalajara 4-2 on Sunday. A total of 862,000 fans witnessed Pachuca’s qualification for the Liga MX Liguilla. The broadcast received a 0.38 viewership rating. Twelve other soccer game broadcasts on TUDN made it to ShowbuzzDaily’s top 150 cable originals and network finals last week.
The Spanish-language channel screened the UEFA Champions League semifinals screened on Tuesday and Wednesday. Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Real Madrid garnered a larger crowd – 376,000 viewers – than Manchester City’s home win over PSG – 266,000 viewers.
Four CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals second legs fixtures also featured in TUDN’s lineup last week. Club America’s commanding 3-1 against the Portland Timbers at home on Wednesday, May 5, was watched by 441,000 viewers in the USA.
A Liga MX Femenil Liguilla quarterfinal game between Tigres UANL and Club America made it to the list. Tigres defeated America 2-0 (6-0 global) to comfortably reach the semifinals where they will face rivals Monterrey. A total of 81,000 people watched the broadcast on TUDN.
A couple of Sunday Major League Soccer broadcasts on ABC made it to the top three most-watched soccer games on American TV last week. Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders secured a 2-1 win against Cascadia rivals Portland. The game attracted 620,000 viewers and received a 0.34 viewership rating. On the other hand, a rigid 1-1 draw between Inter Miami and Atlanta United in South Florida received a 0.32 rating after 557,000 people tuned in to the broadcast.
The NWSL Challenge Cup final on CBS attracted 534,000 viewers. The game saw NWSL veterans Christine Sinclair and Carli Lloyd each score a goal to make it 1-1 after 90 minutes. The game went straight to penalties, and Portland’s Adrianna Franch was the hero after saving two shots from the spot.
FOX aired the eleventh edition of El Trafico on Saturday. The LA Galaxy continued their run of good form after winning the contest 2-1. A total of 489,000 viewers tuned in to watch the game. FOX Deportes also screened the game, which became No. 2 all-time MLS audience on the channel with 206,000 views.
NBC broadcasted a Premier League match between Arsenal and West Brom on Sunday. The Gunners secured three points after a 3-1 win against the Baggies. A total of 483,000 fans in the U.S. watched the game. Four other Premier League games were screened on NBC Sports Network.
