Both Leipzig and Dortmund will be eager to get their hands on the DFB-Pokal title as it represents the only remaining piece of silverware in German football this season.

Preview: Leipzig vs Dortmund

After seeing Bayern win the title following the Bavarians' 6-0 mauling of Gladbach, Leipzig and Dortmund will now try to win the only trophy left this season in the German top flight: the DFB-Pokal. The two sides will come face to face just five days after meeting in the Bundesliga, where Leipzig's title aspirations were ended in heart-breaking fashion after Dortmund defeated them 3-2, thus handing Bayern the title even before die Roten took to the pitch for their match against Gladbach.

It's safe to say that Leipzig will be even more extra motivated to get one over on Dortmund on Wednesday evening. This will present a chance for die Roten Bullen to win their first trophy in the top flight in their young club's history, and perhaps a bit of consolation after valiantly trying to knock Bayern off their perch but coming up short.

For both Julian Naglesmann and Edin Terzic, this trophy could become their respective firsts as senior managers. Naglesmann, as we all know, is set to take over from Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich next season, and he'd certainly want to sign off on his time at Leipzig on a high note. Meanwhile, Terzic took over from Lucien Favre as a caretaker, and while he hasn't been offered a permanent contract a DFB-Pokal on his CV wouldn't hurt in terms of attracting prospective employers.

Team news: Leipzig vs Dortmund
