Manchester United will continue their hectic schedule with another visit from Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Preview

Manchester United will take on Leicester City at Old Trafford as they search for their first win against the Foxes in what is the pair's third meeting this season. The Red Devils' boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope that his men still have some juice left in the tank coming into the game barely 48 hours after securing a comeback win over Aston Villa. Ahead of the clash, the Norweigian manager has bemoaned the unfair nature of the congested fixture list but will still be optimistic about his side's chances considering the remarkable run they have put together thus far.

On Sunday, United staged a strong fight to win 3-1 after conceding first at Villa Park. Second half goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani sealed the club's 10th comeback win this season, landing them a new Premier League record in the process. So far, they are yet to pick up a defeat in their last 14 outings in the competition. The last time they lost a game was back in January against Sheffield United. Since then, the Old Trafford outfit has won eight games and have drawn the remaining six.

Mathematically, it is still possible for Solskjaer's charges to secure the Premier League title as, with four games left to play, they remain 10 points behind rivals Manchester City. While a win over Leicester will reduce the point deficit to just seven, they face another stiff challenge 48 hours later in Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side. Considering how thick and fast the games are trickling in, United's of six wins in their last seven top-flight matches is well under threat.

For Leicester, the objective will be to keep the Manchester club at bay so as to consolidate their top four status. A host of clubs including Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are all lurking in the shadows to pounce should the Foxes mess up their chances of playing in the Champions League next season. At the moment, the odds are seemly stacked against the Old Trafford visitors who will be facing Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the final games of the season.

After the clash with Manchester United, Brendan Rodgers' men will aim to secure their first trophy in four years when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final. They will approach Tuesday's meeting with the Red Devils on the back of a shock 4-2 home defeat against Newcastle - a result that practically secured the Magpies another stint in the Premier League next season.

Prior to that, the Foxes had remained unbeaten in the four games they had featured in, winning three and drawing the remaining one game. With just one defeat across the last 12 outing, it may prove costly to write off Leicester's impact. However, the fact that they have lost five and drawn only once in the top-flight games on the Old Trafford turf puts them at a marginal disadvantage.

Team news

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow with Harry Maguire set to miss the meeting with Leicester. The center-back picked up an ankle from the last game against Aston Villa and, according to reports, could spend the rest of the season on the treatment table. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Phil Jones are still making progress in their respective recovery journeys.

For the Foxes, they will welcome the returns of James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira after bouts with injuries. James Justin, Wes Morgan, Harvey Barnes and Jonny Evans will be amiss for the encounter.

Predicted starting XI

  • Manchester United: Henderson; Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles; Matic, McTominay, Van de Beek; Mata; Greenwood, Cavani

  • Leicester City: Schmeichel; Amartey, Soyuncu, Fofana; Castagne, Ndidi, Tielemans, Thomas; Perez; Iheanacho, Vardy.
