The Magpies staged what was arguably their best performance this season to dent the top-four hopes of the Foxes.

Newcastle run riot against Leicester on Friday night to secure the all-important three points which has blown the Premier League top-four race wide open ahead of the weekend's round of matches. Goals from Joe Willock, Paul Dummett and a double by Callum Wilson sealed the rout for Steve Bruce's men who are now guarenteed a place in the Premier League for next season.

With just four games left in the season to play, Leicester needed to win to safeguard themselves from the pressure from several teams chasing a Champions League place for next season. Brendan Rodgers' men approached the clash with Newcastle two points above fourth-placed Chelsea and five ahead of West Ham who sit in fifth. They were dealt a bad hand in the first half with Joe Willock and Paul Dummett putting the visitors ahead by scoring in the 22nd and 34th minute respectively.

A comeback looked unlikely for Leicester with Newcastle having totally dominated the first half and the former had their misery even compounded as Steve Bruce's men will go on to score two more goals. Callum Wilson capitalised on a poor backpass by Timothy Castagne to go past Kasper Schmeichel and put the ball into an empty net in the 64th minute before bagging a brace with a close-range strike after his initial shot had hit the post.

Leicester subsequently pulled two goals back through Marc Albrighton and Kelechi Iheanacho but their effort could not go any further thatn that. With the night's defeat, the Foxes could be demoted to fourth on the table should Chelsea defeat Manchester City in Saturday league clash. A win for West Ham in Sunday's clash with Everton could also reduce the points deficit between them and the King Power outfit to just two ahead of the final three games of the campaign. Relatively, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Everton could all make their way into the top half of the table should the result in their upcoming fixtures go in their favor.

Among the current top-four clubs in the Premier League, Leicester arguably face the stiffest challenge as they will have to take on Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in their last three games.
