Both Inter and Milan will be in action on Saturday, May 1st in matches that will prove decisive in each team achieving their respective objectives this season.

Preview: Crotone vs Inter

This game could prove to be really decisive for both Crotone and Inter. One side could be pushed towards demotion, while the other elevated towards glory. The Squali come into this match having beaten fellow relegation candidates Parma to end their long losing streak, but it may be too little too late for Serse Cosmi's side. Nigerian striker Simy has been arguably one of the biggest revelations this season, as his brace brings him to 19 goals and now makes him the highest-scoring Nigerian international in league history.

Crotone fans, naturally will hope he can come up with some kind of heroics as the bottom-placed side prepare to welcome the league leaders, as they'll need all sorts of miracles to halt Antonio Conte's swashbuckling side. Although they've drawn two of their last five games, Inter come into this match unbeaten in their last 17 games. They enjoy a 11 point lead over the chasing pack, and despite Atalanta forcing their way into second spot, a win for the Nerazzurri over Crotone, coupled with La Dea failing to win their game, could see Inter win the Scudetto this weekend.

Inter's last Scudetto victory was in 2010, and with five games to go, the league title is all but in Conte's hands. Of course, the Nerazzurri and their supporters won't be leaving anything to chance. Crotone have managed to pull off last-minute surprises; it wasn't too long ago that the Squali, who were then under the guidance of Croatian tactician Ivan Juric, managed to avoid the drop by stringing together a series of good results at the tail end of the season.

Inter are currently on their longest unbeaten streak since 2008, and having conceded just 29 goals, while scoring 72 times, Crotone do look set for a very long day at the office. Will calcio fans see a new Scudetto champion crowned by the end of this round? Or will the Squali throw a wrench in Inter's fans - and thus make the Nerazzurri have to wait a bit longer to celebrate their 19th league title?

Preview: Milan vs Benevento

Both Milan and Benevento find themselves in dire straits ahead of Saturday's match, but for vastly different reasons. The Rossoneri at one point were looking like Scudetto contenders, as they were unbeaten heading into the Christmas break and were sitting on top of the table. Hopes were high that perhaps Stefano Pioli's side would finally win their first Scudetto since 2011, thus ending Juve's unchallenged reign as champions of Italy. Unfortunately, things have gone horribly awry, and now the Diavolo, who at one point looked comfortably secure in second, find themselves in fifth.

They've lost two on the trot, and now with 66 points are in danger of missing out on the top four spots entirely. Atalanta have managed somehow to sneak into second spot and La Dea will be desperate to remain there, so at this point, Milan simply can't afford to drop any more points between now and the rest of the season. Only five matches remain, meaning that there are 15 points available for Pioli's squad to claim, and both Juventus and Napoli also will be looking to also guarantee Champions League football for themselves - especially the Bianconeri, who will fail to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2012.

Milan had hoped to become the first team to win 14 of their most recent 16 away games, but were thrashed 3-0 by Lazio. That comes on the heels of a shock loss to Sassuolo in their last home game, and in short, this game could end up being a deciding factor as to whether the Diavolo end up featuring in the Champions League for the first time since 2013 or have to settle for the Europa League once again.

Benevento, for their part, have won just two of their last 18 games since 2021 started. Led by former Rossoneri striker Pippo Inzaghi, the visitors, who sit in 18th spot, recently lost 4-2 to Udinese, but Inzaghi will naturally hope that a return to the stadium he enjoyed success as a player will bring his team a bit of much needed luck on Saturday evening.

Team news: Milan vs Benevento

Milan: The Rossoneri have been given a boost as veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to return, meaning that new signing Mario Mandzukic will return to the bench. In addition, Alessio Romagnoli should also be back in the starting XI after recovering from injury.

Benevento: Gabriele Moncini, Marco Sau, Daam Foulon, Gaetano Letizia, and Alessandro Tuia are all out for the visitors with various injuries.

Match facts: Milan vs Benevento

  • Despite their strong away form, Milan have done quite poorly at home since the start of 2021. The Rossoneri have picked up just 11 points from their 10 matches at the Stadio San Siro (W3 D2 L5)
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become the first player in the 21st century to score against 80 different teams in Europe's "Big 5" leagues if he finds the back of the net on Saturday
  • Benevento have failed to win 16 of their last 17 matches
