There will be no love lost when Germany takes on Turkey. Germany leads the group and will continue to do so regardless of other results.
Mesut Özil is already preparing himself for the Turkish crowd. Oezil knows he will be jeered as he turned down the chance to play for Turkey in order to star for the German Mannschaft. He has been absolutely phenomenal for the Germans. He picked up a knock in Real Madrid’s 4-0 demolition of Espanyol. He is expected to recover soon though.

Turkey is second in the group, a full ten points behind Germany, and is looking to secure a play-off berth to make the Euros. Turkey is only two behinds ahead of third placed Belgium. Guus Hiddink called up Bayer Leverkusen defender Ömer Toprak. The young Toprak has been highly impressive and knows all about German football.

Dennis Aogo, Mario Gomez and Sami Khedira returns to the squad. Khedira and Gomez both missed the previous internationals against Austria and Turkey through injuries. Toni Kroos has been included in the squad. However, the Bayern midfielder who is having a fantastic season at club level has the flu and will not be able to feature against the Turks.

Miroslav Klose is a slight doubt after picking up a knock in Lazio’s match against Fiorentina. The legendary attacker scored the winner in the dying minutes and has already racked up five goals in seven appearances with his new club. If he has any ambitions to win the European boot, his international rival Gomez’s record won’t help his cause. Gomez has already scored 11 times at club level.

The Dortmund duo of Sven Bender and Marcel Schmelzer withdrew from the squad with injury. Marco Reus has finally made the national side without having to withdraw due to a minor knock as he usually does. Reus and the Hanover keeper Ron-Robert Zieler are yet to make debuts for the national side.

The Turkish squad consists of a few players who ply their trade in the Bundesliga. Along with the aforementioned Toprak, Gökhan Töre, Tunay Torun and Mehmet Ekici play in the Bundesliga. Mehmet Aurélio returns to the squad after about a year as does Mevlüt Erdinç.

Joachim Loew, Germany’s coach knows that Turkey has a lot at stake and has thus promised to field a top team rather than make seven or eight changes like he did against Poland. Guus Hiddink knows that the Germans will be difficult to beat considering the players have played with each other for a long time. However, he does believe his time has a chance to beat the three-time World Champions.

This is what Joachim Low had to say:

“Our goal had been to qualify as early as possible, which we did accomplish with the win over Austria in September. Now we’ll play with maximum focus in the upcoming two games against Turkey and Belgium. We aim for a perfect record in the qualifying round, so we have to add two more wins.”
This is what Guus Hiddink mentioned:

"We are still in control for a play-off place. The game against Germany will be very difficult because they are a team who have been playing together for a long time and are also very creative. I am not underestimating the strength of my players, especially at home; we can surprise the big teams with our high energy."
