Barcelona's shock loss to Granada has really opened things up in La Liga's title race despite Lionel Messi's early effort.

Earlier today, Barcelona took on Granada, and for all intents and purposes, many fans and pundits figured it should have been a straightforward win for Ronald Koeman's side.

Coming into this match, Barcelona had lost just one other La Liga game in 2021. That was a 2-1 reversal to bitter rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico on April 10th. However, with both Real and Atleti dropping points , the Blaugrana had a golden opportunity to jump from third into top spot.

However, Lionel Messi's early goal - his 26th league strike of the season - wasn't enough to keep the visitors at bay as goals from Darwin Machís and Jorge Molina turned the tie on its head.

This is especially worrying as now there are five matches remaining, and Barcelona will hope that the teams ahead of them slip-up as they're not in control of proceedings anymore.

And things have gotten even more interesting as Sevilla, who sit in fourth spot, have been on a five game winning streak, are hoping to steal a late march on the top three teams.
