Real Madrid and Juventus set to know possible sanctions after Super League involvement

Both teams have been identified as the leaders of the group that tried to create the new tournament, but Los Blancos seemingly have more to lose.

The consequences of plotting to create the European Super League could be known in the next few hours, and Real Madrid could be in for quite a harsh punishment.

According to a report by Spanish TV company Deportes Cuatro, UEFA execs are still deciding on the punishment that will fall on Los Blancos, and the option of kicking them out of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals is still on the table. Added to that, the alternative of kicking Real Madrid and Juventus out of all European competitions for a year will also be considered in the meeting set to take place this Friday.

Even after their involvement in the botched project, kicking Los Merengues and other clubs such as Chelsea out of the tournament may not be as easy as it may look. According to UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, banning teams from the competition when it has already started may get them in trouble.

"The key is that this season has already started, so broadcasters would come at us for damages if we don't play the semi-finals," Ceferin stated in a recent interview.

Only time will tell if UEFA decide to ban the 13-time Champions League winners, but their meeting on Friday will surely create controversy without a doubt.
