Manchester City dropped their first points of the Premier League season when they drew 2-2 with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
City got off to a good start when David Silva played in Sergio Aguero to open the scoring inside of 20 minutes.

The lead was doubled just 12 seconds into the second half, when Gael Clichy’s long pass was head down by Edin Dzeko, and Aguero fired past Mark Schwarzer. City fans could have been forgiven for thinking at that point that another win was on its way, though that is not how things transpired.

Firt Bobby Zamora fired into the top corner from 20 yards out, and then Danny Murphy beat Joe Hart with a deflected shot earn a share of the points.

After beginning the season with four consecutive wins, scoring 15 goals in the process, this game was the second time in a week City have shown flaws.

In their midweek UEFA Champions League opener, City were exposed on the counterattack at time by Napoli as they earned a 1-1 draw.

Now their inability to hold a two goal lead at Fulham shows that despite their loaded roster, Roberto Mancini has work to o to guide the Citizen’s to a Premier League title.

Across the city of Manchester, rivals United sent a resounding message of their intent to retain the Premier League title when they convincingly beat Chelsea 3-1.

On Wednesday City will play host to Birmingham City in Carling Cup action. Even if Mancini fields a compete reserve team, you have to still assume City are in with a string chance of progressing.

The next Premier League game will be against Everton, and that is followed by a tough Champions League clash at Bayern Munich.

City manager Roberto Mancini was frustrated to see a two goal lead disappear, but remained upbeat and told BBC Sport that the Fulham game “can be a lesson” for the Sky Blue’s.

It is a lesson City must learn if they are to achieve their ultimate goal this season. City are a good team that is fighting to become a great one. They should be well aware however that great teams are not in the habit if letting leads slip away.
