The No. 1 U.S. women’s national team will face No. 3 France on Tuesday, April 13, in Le Havre at Sated Oceane. The game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on ESPN2 in the U.S.

The USWNT is coming off a one-all draw against No. 5 Sweden at Friends Arena in Stockholm on Saturday. A late Megan Rapinoe equalizer from the penalty spot helped the U.S. women’s national extended the team’s undefeated run to 38 games. However, the USA’s perfect 5-0-0 record in 2021 before the match was tainted with the draw.

Forward Carli Lloyd made her 300th international appearance, becoming the third player in the history of international soccer – men’s and women’s – to reach that milestone.

The Americans out-shot Sweden 20-9 and 6-2 in shots on goal, but the home team’s organization in defense and quick transitions on attack matched that of the USWNT’s. The draw moved the USA’s all-time record against Sweden to 23-6-12.

Now, manager Vlatko Andonovski and his side are gearing up to play No. 3 France in Le Havre on Tuesday.

About France’s roster and friendly vs. England

Led by manager Corrine Diacre, France is without some of their top players due to a COVID outbreak at Olympique Lyonnais. Star players like Wendie Renard, Griedge Mbock, Sakina Karchaoui, Amandine Henry, Amel Majri and Delphine Cascarino are all ruled out for this FIFA window. Forward Eugine le Sommer is the only Lyon player in the squad.

The lack of French regulars did not stop France from smashing England 3-1 at home. Paris Saint-Germain’s Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore scored from open play, and Bayern’s Viviane Asseyi scored from the penalty spot.

History between France and the USWNT

The game against France in April will be the USWNT’s first meeting with France since the quarterfinal clash at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Paris. The USA won the game 2-1 at Parc des Princes, with Rapinoe scoring both goals.

The Americans have played the French 24 times, but only five games have taken place in France. Out of the five, France claimed two wins, including a 3-1 win in January 2019 in Le Havre. However, the USA leads the all-time record vs. France 18-3-3.
