All the records set as Man Utd seal comeback win

All the records set as Manchester United complete comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur

April 11, 2021 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Red Devils fought back to secure a big win in Sunday's super clash.

For the umpteenth time in the Premier League this season, Manchester United endured a tough test to secure another crucial away win after going behind first. In Sunday's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils responded to conceding the game's opener in the first half by scoring three of their own to run away with victory at the Tottenham Stadium.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's charges could have gone in front earlier but had Edinson Cavani's opener chalked off after Scott McTominay was deemed to have fouled Heung-Min Son in the build-up to the goal. A short while after, the South Korean attacker completed a slick move by his side with a goal to hand them the lead.

12 minutes after play resumed for the second half, Fred scored his second-ever career goal for Manchester United to restore parity. Substitute Mason Greenwood then assisted Edinson Cavani to complete the comeback with a brilliant header before scoring Manchester United's third in the sixth minute of stoppages.

With his contribution, the forward became the first teenager to score and assist as a substitute for Manchester United in a Premier League match since Cristiano Ronaldo in November 2003. For his club, the win meant that they are now five results away from equalling Arsenal's record for the longest away unbeaten run in the English top-flight.

Meanwhile, the defeat for Tottenham Hotspur meant that for the first time in Jose Mourinho's managerial career, he has lost at home to Manchester United. Also, for the first time in the Portuguese coach's career, a team he manages has suffered 10 league defeats in a single season.
