Zidane makes history with another El Clásico win

Zidane makes history with 2-1 win over Barcelona in El Clásico

April 10, 2021 By Oscar Rojas
The French tactician led Los Blancos to one more win against their bitter rival that leaves them in prime position to fight for La Liga against Atlético

Zidane has done it again. The French boss led Real Madrid to one more win over Barcelona, and by doing that, the former footballer entered an elite list of managers.

Today's win gave Real Madrid an edge over Barcelona in the title race, as Los Merengues claimed a double over Los Culés for the first time since the 2007-08 season. But winning the most important game of the season has been customary for the French tactician since his return to the Spanish giants' dugout in 2019, since he has not lost a single match against Barcelona after coming back from his "retirement" in 2018.

Zidane's return to Real Madrid has seen him draw his first El Clásico (a goalless draw at Camp Nou), while also adding three wins in a row against Los Culés (2-0 in March 2020, 3-1 in October 2020, and tonight's 2-1 result. With that, Zidane joined Luis Molowny as the only coach in Real Madrid's history to win three El Clásico editions in a row during the 21st Century, and the first to do so in over 40 years.

Now, Zizou and Los Merengues will sleep at the top of La Liga, waiting for Atlético's result against Betis on Sunday.
