Zinedine Zidane's claimed a narrow win over Los Culés despite dominating the Blaugrana side during the first half, but maybe that will be enough to win La Liga once again.

Real Madrid will sleep as league leaders after beating Barcelona, but beating their bitter rivals for a second time this season may just be enough to think of them as true title contenders with eight games to go in the season.

Los Merengues managed to beat Barcelona with a narrow 2-1 score thanks to first-half goals by Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos. While Oscar Mingueza scored Barcelona's goal, that was not enough to steal all the points away from the Spanish capital giants.

With their win today, Real Madrid completed a double over Barcelona for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign. What truly stands out is that Zidane's men seem to have the upper hand over Atlético and Barcelona, because Los Merengues have won the league in nine of the last ten times in which they completed a double over Los Culés, according to stats expert Mister Chip.

When looking at the other side of the ball, Barcelona have never been crowned as champions when they dropped all the points against Real Madrid in a La Liga season. Should we take this as a sign of things to come? We will have to wait for the last eight games in the Spanish top-flight!
