With El Clásico right around the corner, the back and forth of statements prior to the game is something that fans were expecting.
Both teams will get to this game with a fighting chance to win La Liga, and in that fashion, Karim Benzema decided to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of their opponent, and we are sure that his words will not go down well neither within the club nor among their fans.
Speaking in an interview with La Liga's website, Benzema looked at Barcelona's current squad and only mentioned two players that were worthy of keeping in mind.
"They will always fight to have possession. They have a great goalkeeper and they also have Messi, the player that has to do everything for Barcelona. We will have to focus on him, because he will be their biggest threat," Benzema said.
Even with that in mind, Benzema admitted that the game will be tough to win for both sides.
"It will be as tough as any other Clásico. They are a team that enjoy having the ball, like we do. The game will be sorted out in midfielder, and we will have to go out there thinking that it's a title match, because we can't afford to drop points.
Before the interview concluded, Benzema referred to his goalscoring prowess, which has seen him climb to the top four in the Pichichi race recently.
"I don't know if it's my best season. I try to begin each year trying to improve what I did in the previous year. Now I am on a goalscoring run and if I can keep it up, I will try to help my teammates win games with those goals. I feel comfortable on the pitch because I can do whatever I want. Either way, the main thing is to win all games," Benzema concluded.
