The Portuguese forward came on from the bench to guide the reds to an emphatic win over Arsenal.

Liverpool had their chances of securing a Champions League place rekindled after Saturday's big victory over Arsenal. Thanks to Mohamed Salah's strike and Diogo Jota's double, the Reds were able to run away from the Emirates with a 3-0 win, putting their aspiration to finish in the top-four right back on the map.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea's surprise 5-2 defeat at home to West Brom blew the race wide open, paving the way for as many as five teams to have a shot at breaking into the top-four. With that at the back of the minds of the Arsenal and Liverpool players, both sides approached the game with the desire to get a favorable result. In the end, it was the latter who had the breakthrough after a goalless first half as Diogo Jota would put them in front just three minutes after replacing Andrew Robertson in the 61st minute.

Four minutes later, Mohamed Salah deepened the wounds of Arsenal by doubling Liverpool's advantage before Jota sealed the deal with his second of the night in the 82nd minute. With the result, the Reds moved into fifth place with 49 points after 30 games and are now two points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp's men face another tough test in their next league outing with Aston Villa coming to town after the former's mid-week Champions League quarter final clash with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, the night's result did not favor the ambitions of Arsenal with the possibility of securing a Europa League place also slipping away. The Gunners remain in ninth position with 42 points from 30 league outings, nine points adrift of the top four.
