The French superstar has been tipped to leave Les Parisiens this summer after failing to reach a contract extension.

Kylian Mbappé's future has been the talk of the season due to his reluctance to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain. Now, judging by his recent statements, the player could be paving the way to leave the club as soon as possible.

Speaking in an interview with RTL, Mbappé admitted that playing for a club in the French top-flight and also for the National Team has made things a bit more difficult for him to handle, especially when he gets criticized by fans and experts. After that, the player compared his situation to that of those players who play abroad, hinting that the thought of a transfer could be crossing his mind.

"Of course it gets tiring. Especially when you play for a club in your country and you give everything for your national team. After a while it gets tiring. It's different for players who play abroad and only come back here for the national team. I'm there all the time, they speak about me a lot more. It's a different context [to other players], but I knew it would be like that when I signed for Paris. We'll see," Mbappé stated.

The striker went on further and revealed that his decision to leave PSG may have to do with the fact that the French media will not be all over him, and that would add up to choosing the right team to play for.

"Of course it plays a part, but it's not just that. The most important thing is to feel good where you are, and to have fun every day,"Mbappé added.

PSG pave the way for Mbappé's potential exit

Meanwhile, the club is yet to make a public statement on the player's contractual situation, but in a move that seemed quite shocking to most, the club has decided to lower the transfer fee on Mbappé's deal to facilitate his exit and avoid having to watch him leave on a free deal in 2022.

According to French newspaper Le Parisien, the club has lowered their initial demands of €240M (around $280M) to "only" €150M ($176M). This move is intended to help the club transfer the player to one of its suitors, such as Real Madrid or Liverpool, who have shown interest in the footballer recently.
