The two clubs have done business in the past, swapping Arthur Melo for Miralem Pjanic last season. Could they do another bit of business this summer?

They might be foes on the pitch, but they certainly have no problems doing business off it.

Last season saw Barcelona decided to swap Arthur Melo for Juventus's Miralem Pjanic, and if reports from Italy are to be believed, the Blaugrana and the Bianconeri may decide to do business once again when this summer's transfer window opens.

This time, the players in question are Ousmane Dembele and Paulo Dybala. Dybala started out at the Allianz Stadium in excellent form - during his debut season, his 19 goals (23 in all comps) - was enough to ensure he completed that term as Juve's top goal-scorer. He then repeated that same feat during two years later during the 2017/2018 campaign where he netted 22 in the league (26 across all comps); it would also be his highest-ever output in his professional career to date.

Although his numbers dipped dramatically following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo the following season, he still did well enough last term under Maurizio Sarri's tenure. However, this year has been nothing short but frustrating for the 27-year-old, who enjoyed success while working with Massimiliano Allegri and has been mostly reduced to a fringe player now with Andrea Pirlo on the tactician's bench. As of now, the Argentinian international, who began his Serie A career with Palermo, has a contract that expires in 2022, but has not yet signed an extension.

In addition, with reports indicating that Juventus are yet to give him any kind of financial improvements on his current wage packet, Dybala's career with the Turin giants is very much up in the air. All in all, La Vecchia Signora may very well be forced to sell him in order to avoid losing him for free next summer if the two sides can't come to some kind of resolution.

Meanwhile, Dembele, who arrived at Barcelona after a season with Borussia Dortmund, could also be on the move. Unlike Dybala, who actually did enjoy a spell of success in Turin, Dembele has struggled, at times, to live up to the burden of his huge price tag. At the time of his purchase, which cost Barcelona €105 million (plus an additional €40 million in add-ons and other incentives) in 2017, he was the second joint-most expensive footballer in the world.

Injuries have not been kind to the 23-year-old, who, despite managing 14 goals in 42 appearances during his sophomore campaign, only featured nine times during a very disappointing and frustrating 2019/2020 season. He's failed to find his footing under Ronald Koeman, and thus, according to Italian publication Tuttosport, both Barcelona and Juventus may be open to the idea of a swap deal in order to try to solve their respective conundrums.

Will this come to pass? As in the case with every transfer rumor that has sprung up, and with many more that will certainly do over the next few months, it's just a matter of waiting and seeing what's fact and what will just turn out to be mere fiction.
