President Joan Laporta will try to offload as many players as possible in order to keep around some of the talents that emerged from La Masía.

Before Barcelona fans think about hiring new players, their new president has been adamant about their need to sell some of their current footballers.

A report by Spanish newspaper El Confidencial has revealed the names of four first-team players that are set to leave the club by the end of the season due to Los Culés' financial needs. The report states that these players will leave the club in order to keep some of the team's young talents around.

The players that have been identified as key to the team's future are Ilaix Moriba, Ansu Fati, Pedri González, and goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen. Added to those names, Laporta has stated his desire to keep Lionel Messi around as the cornerstone of this "new" Barcelona, with these players being ready to carry on with his legacy once he retires.

As for the players that will leave the club, the report suggests that Antoine Griezmann, Samuel Umtiti, Pedro Trincao, and Philippe Coutinho will end up leaving the club to end its ailing finances. Coutinho and Griezmann could bring in quite a bit of cash to the team's bank accounts, while Umtiti and Trincao might end up being transferred or included in other type of deals.

These moves by Laporta would be followed by extensive wage adjustments to most of the players that remain at Camp Nou. The new boss' idea would be to re-think some of those wages for players who have not stepped up during cruch games, such as the UEFA Champions League eliminations against Liverpool or Bayern München.

In the end, Barcelona seem to be living difficult times, and before fans can think about their favorite club being able to hire Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappé, they will have to solve the complicated financial situation left by their former execs.
