The Rossoneri look to return to winning ways and make amends for their Europa League exit when they visit the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Here’s a preview of Fiorentina vs AC Milan.

Fiorentina vs AC Milan – preview

AC Milan resume action in Serie A, taking on Fiorentina on Sunday with the sole aim of returning to winning ways. The Stadio Artemio Franchi will be the venue for this 1 p.m. ET affair as the visitors look to bounce back from their midweek European disappointment when they lock horns with their mid-table opposition.

This game comes on the back of the Rossoneri's UEFA Europa League exit on Thursday. Despite scoring a crucial away goal and coming out of Old Trafford with a 1-1 draw, Pioli's men weren't able to build on this in the second leg of their round of 16 showdown with Man United. The Italians hosted Solskjaer's men but couldn't profit off the home advantage, losing 1-0 and crashing out 2-1 on aggregate.

Paul Pogba was the man who sent the Rossoneri packing, scoring just after half-time in his first game back since recovering from injury. Given AC Milan's form in the Italian top-flight, the Europa League looked to have been their only shot at silverware. With only one win in their last three Serie A ties, and two victories from their last five, Ibrahimovic and Co. have really fallen off in the Scudetto race in the final hurdle.

Their last league outing was a home showdown against Napoli, which the Milan giants lost 1-0 thanks to a Matteo Politano effort. As a result, Pioli's men now trail league leaders Inter Milan by a whopping nine points and only sit ahead of third-placed Juventus due to playing an extra game, with only a single point separating Milan from the defending champions.

As for Fiorentina, they are 14th in the table, boasting only 29 points from 27 games this season. Viola did win their last game, beating Benevento 4-1 away from home, which is a boost. However, the last time Ribery and Co. faced off against AC Milan, they lost 2-0. Can the host avoid a repeat? Tune in to find out.
