The Argentine will be out of contract this summer and could join City's direct rivals for free.

The future of Sergio Aguero is an interesting topic, with the Man City legend's contract set to end this summer. It remains unclear whether the Argentine icon will leave the Etihad Stadium, given the Barcelona links, but according to the Daily Mail, the South American prefers to remain in England regardless of whether he stays in Manchester.

The Blaugrana have reportedly made contact with the English top-flight leaders with the hopes of securing a free transfer. Kun is a close friend of Lionel Messi and with the Catalan giants fighting to keep hold of the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, landing Aguero is seen as the key to keeping La Pulga at the Camp Nou.

However, the Spanish giants aren't the only ones monitoring Sergio's situation. PSG are said to have their eyes on the Premier League's highest-scoring foreigner as well as another English heavyweight. They are none other than Chelsea, the London powerhouse that tried but failed to sign the Argentine from Atletico prior to his Etihad Stadium arrival.

Interest in a striker from Stamford Bridge isn't surprising. Despite signing Timo Werner last summer, the German forward is yet to hit the ground running and thus has the Blues on the lookout for a back-up or, even possibly, a replacement.

A number of names have been linked with Tuchel's side, one being Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, but with the clubs competing for the Norwegian, Chelsea might find it impossible to land the 20-year-old. Here is where an Aguero move would enter as he would be an experienced and talented short-term solution until Werner gets up to speed.

Whether the player would accept a move to a direct rivals is uncertain, however. Aguero has struggled with injuries but has been left frustrated by the lack of minutes since returning to fitness. Regardless, given that he is the club's all-time leading scorer, he might be cautious about making a Stamford Bridge switch.
