Most-watched soccer game in U.S. TV: March 9-15

A pair of English Premier League games broadcasted by NBC Sports Network and a UEFA Champions League match aired by TUDN made up the top three most-watched soccer games on U.S. TV from Tuesday, March 9, through Monday, March 15.

NBCSN's Premier League broadcast of the North London Derby on Sunday was the most-watched soccer game on U.S. television last week. Arsenal's 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho's Tottenham was watched by 576,000 viewers and received a viewership rating of 0.34. Manchester United's 1-0 home win against West Ham United was also aired by NBCSN on Sunday and became the second most-watched game in the U.S. last week. The broadcast received a 0.29 rating after attracting 524,000 viewers. Four other games made it to Showbuzzdaily's top 150 cable originals and network finals last week, combining for 2,161,000 viewers across the six broadcasts.

The second most-watched soccer game last week was TUDN's broadcast of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, earning a 0.16 rating after 349,000 people watched the game. The game ended in one-all draw, which meant that PSG secured a spot in the quarterfinals. Also, TUDN telecasted Porto's win on away goals against Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus. The game's broadcast earned a 0.11 viewership rating for the 232,000 it attracted. Additionally, TUDN broadcasted seven Liga MX games last week, adding 1,419,000 viewers to the 581,000 from both Champions League broadcasts.

Liga MX's Super Clasico between Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America on Universo earned a 0.11 viewership rating after 211,000 viewers tuned in to the broadcast. However, the simulcast along with Telemundo's numbers added up to 1.7 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. Club America's 3-0 away win over Chivas became the most-watched Liga MX game of the Clausura 2021 season to date. 

FOX Deportes also broadcasted a marquee Liga MX matchup between Monterrey and Leon. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with the game attracting 233,000 viewers.

Lastly, beIN Sport Español broadcasted Real Madrid's 2-1 home win over Elche on Saturday and Barcelona's 4-1 win against Huesca on Monday. Real's broadcast came out on top of Barca's with a mere 150,000 viewers.
